Dateline: 01/14/05

By Corey Deitz, About.com Guide

XM Satellite Radio will broadcast "Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope," a live benefit special organized by the NBC Universal Television Group to help victims of the tsunami tragedy in southern Asia, on Saturday, January 15, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm ET.

The commercial-free concert will be broadcast in stereo on XM's MSNBC channel (XM Channel 130) and XM's CNBC channel (XM Channel 127). Donation phone lines will be open throughout the evening. For a list of performers, go to http://www.nbc.com. The event will also air across NBC's broadcast and cable TV channels.

XM's live broadcast of "Tsunami Aid" is the latest initiative of "XM Nation: Operation Helping Hand," which XM started in September 2004 to raise money for disaster relief following the hurricane evastation in the southeastern U.S.

In response to the Asian tsunami disaster, XM is encouraging its listeners to donate much-needed funds to the American Red Cross International Response Fund through its web site and by phone at 1-800-HELP-NOW.

XM fans who make an online contribution of $50 or more to the American Red Cross International Response Fund will receive a special "XM Nation: Operation Helping Hand" wristband.
