Peter Jennings

With the recent passing of longtime “World News Tonight” anchorman, Peter Jennings, it’s a good time to mention some of Jenning’s ties to radio.

Jennings, born in 1938 in Toronto, Canada, was the son of a prominent announcer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Jenning’s first foray in broadcast was as an announcer on a Saturday morning radio show called, “Peter’s Program”. He was 10 years old at the time.

Jennings’ professional career began as a disc-jockey for a radio station in Brockton, Ontario. He also did news reporting.

From there, he progressed quickly going first to CTV, a private Canadian television network, then to ABC News where he remained for the rest of his professional television career.

Peter Jennings died of lung cancer at age 67.
