(Every year at this time I give you my opinion of the Top 10 Turkey Moments in Radio for the year. These are moments of stupidity, dumbness, bad calls, awkwardness, failed stunts, contests, and more. Well, here's the list for 2007 and as usual, it was hard paring it down to just 10. These are in chronological order by date, not necessarily by severity of stupidity.)
From sacbee.com: "The 'Morning Rave' radio show -- which sponsored a water-drinking contest that preceded Friday's death of a Rancho Cordova mother of three -- will be taken off the air indefinitely, according to executives at The End (KDND, 107.9 FM). Jennifer Lea Strange, 28, drank nearly two gallons of water -- 224 ounces -- at the radio station over three hours, according to a contestant who drank one fewer bottle of water. Strange was found dead in her home about five hours later."
My Take on this Turkey: A lawyer never asks a question he doesn't know the answer to. A radio show or station should never hold a contest or stunt without knowing all the ramifications.
