You generally assume your local radio station is on being honest and trustworthy when running contests. After all, it's sort of the law. But, there was a problem in Seattle.

8. Radio Staffer Arrested After School Bus Prank

UPI reported the arrest of Jase Edward "Cubby" Squires, an employee of WIBT-FM/Charlotte (96.1, The Beat). At the behest of Brotha' Fred, the morning host, Squires talked his way onto a school bus making its regular rounds.
According to UPI: "As Squires described the prank on the air via his cell phone, he first asked parents gathered at a stop where the bus was going, then asked the driver if he could get on and chatted with the DJ while riding."
Seems the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District doesn't take kindly to strangers on their school buses. Squires was arrested and charged with causing a disturbance. More...

We often hear criticism that cell phones are distracting and lead to more automobile accidents. Thank goodness radios are safe...right? From Kennewick, Washington comes a story of a truck driver who was listening to a college football game.
According to kndo.com: "Kennewick police officers say a 60-year-old man was trying to make a left turn when he didn't yield to an oncoming semi traveling eastbound. The man admitted he was distracted by the football game."
The unidentified and unhurt man was ticketed for failing to yield. More...
10. Russell Brand Leaves BBC Radio 2 Over Prank Call Controversy

British comedian Russell Brand resigned from his BBC Radio 2 program on the heels of criticism directed at Brand and Radio 2 over prank calls made during his show to actor Andrew Sachs.
According to SFGate.com: "...he and fellow broadcaster Jonathan Ross recorded voice mail messages on 'Fawlty Towers' star Sachs' phone, in which they discussed Brand's fling with the 78-year-old's granddaughter. The pair also joked about breaking into his house and molesting him, although that dialogue was cut from the aired broadcast."
Latimes.com reported Radio 2 received more than 18,000 complaints from listeners. Brand and Ross both apologized. More...
