During a press conference held on his radio show today he announced that his network of affiliates would increase by nine - five of which are new stations in markets where Clear Channel Communications recently dumped his show, opting to follow a more stringent "decency" path in programming.
The markets include:
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
San Diego, California
Orlando, Florida
West Palm Beach, Florida
Rochester, New York
Houston, Texas
Tampa, Florida
Austin, Texas
Fresno, California
When it's all figured up, that means Stern comes out of the last few months of controversy with at least three more stations than what he went into it with.
Stern also said he considered a move to satellite radio but decided against it, opting to remain with Infinity Broadcasting for the remaining 18 months of his contract.
About the F.C.C., Stern told listeners, "I'm so frustrated by the amount of censorship that's going on...the FCC is on such a witch hunt against me..."
The shock jock also lambasted Clear Channel Communications and promised to seek revenge in the markets they removed him from. In addition, Stern took shots at the Bush Administration on various issues and urged his listeners to support John Kerry.
