(UPDATE: 4/10/05: Liquid Todd was removed from K-Rock after the station's programming was revamped. This article was written and published right before that occurred.)

"Solid State", the groundbreaking electronic music specialty show on New York's 92.3 K-Rock (WXRK-FM) will celebrate eight years on the air on April 16, 2005.

Solid State was the first electronic music radio show on the commercial airwaves in New York.

Host and show creator, DJ Liquid Todd, has been programming the show since the beginning. Show co-host Steve "El" Covino joined the program five years ago, moving up from board-op to one of the show's essential personalities.

"...I want to celebrate eight years of Solid State by giving our dedicated listeners tools they can use to make their own music," said show founder Liquid Todd.

The list of artists who were introduced to K-Rock listeners on the Solid State show is impressive: The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, the Chemical Brothers, Moby, Outkast, The Crystal Method, Basement Jaxx, Underworld, Groove Armada, Dirty Vegas, Electric Six, N.E.R.D, Faithless, Orbital, U.N.K.L.E., The Streets, Sneaker Pimps, the X-Ecutioners, Propellerheads, Lo-Fidelity Allstars, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, the Wiseguys, Crazytown, Roni Size, Orgy and many, many more.

More recently, Solid State has featured the artists leading the so-called "Disco Rock" movement - playing album tracks and exclusive remixes by artists such as Franz Ferdinand, the Faint, LCD Soundsystem, Moving Units, The Bravery, the Rapture, Interpol, Kasabian and The Killers.

In 2002, Liquid Todd won the Dancestar American Dance Music Award for "Best Radio DJ" for his work on Solid State. He has been nominated for the award by his peers in the music business four years in a row.

Solid State airs 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. on Saturday nights.
