The official launch of the service took place at the DISH Network 2004 Team Summit Satellite Television Conference in Dallas.
"Beginning today, SIRIUS is now in front of more listeners than anyone in satellite radio," said Joseph P. Clayton, CEO of SIRIUS. "More than 9.7 million DISH Network subscribers now have the opportunity to listen to commercial-free music from SIRIUS, and can enjoy the tremendous variety of music genres that we provide in digital quality sound."
Subscribers of DISH Network's premium packages now receive SIRIUS' music channels at no extra charge. The remaining DISH Network subscribers have the option to upgrade their subscription packages to include SIRIUS.
In addition to providing DISH Network subscribers with music programming, participating DISH Network retailers around the country will have the ability to offer consumers a DISH Network-branded SIRIUS Satellite Radio receiver.
The transportable DISH Network Satellite Radio Receiver SR200 can easily be installed in a car, truck, boat or RV, and can be inserted into a portable speaker "boombox" for trips.
The DISH SR200, plus car kit and antenna, will be available through DISH Network retailers at a MSRP price of $149.95. Boombox pricing will be announced at a later date.
SIRIUS, provides listeners with over 110 channels of commercial-free music, sports, information and entertainment for a monthly subscription fee of $12.95
