Bubba: And theyre gonna - unlike all the other terrestrial people that layed down and kissed the F.C.C.'s ass, were gonna fight and Im not being a spokesperson for SIRIUS. I'm assuming we're gonna fight until the bitter end as terrestrial radio should have but they set unbelievable precedent when they make deals with devils and lay down and let the Congress and Senate shove shit down their throat and now look at the druthers theyre in - they damn near ruined their own business.
Corey: It just seems that the wrong people have been in charge of deciding what indecency is. You know they never really asked the general public to sort that out
Bubba: Ya know, Corey, there is no litmus test of what is deemed indecent or objectionable or offensive. What is objectionable and offensive and indecent in Salt Lake City is not gonna be in Las Vegas. When they say community standards, well, ya know show me the actual show me statistics of what people in Grand Rapids Michigan find offensive and what people and Tampa, Florida find offensive give us some actual parameters - not even us - the poor schleps left in regular radio need some parameters as to whats indecent and whats obscene. And then you can start demanding some crap like that.
Corey: You obviously have some confidence in Satellite Radio. Where do you think the business is gonna be three, four, or five years from now?
Bubba: I think as the portability issue with the equipment continues to get smaller and smaller and more user friendly I think satellite radio is what cable TV was in 1979 and 1980. And thats two-fold: one, because the technology is unbelievable but just the programming in itself. And if you fragment it, were still doing radio. So, the only competition we really have is the other competing company, XM, and then the rest of radio.
Terrestrial radio - the government is doing about 80 are 90% of our marketing for us by shutting these people down and mandating and making it so beige. At the end of the day, where else can you hear the amount of programming content for $12.95? Where can you hear that kind of content and programming anywhere else on the radio?
