The XM Deal
New Subscribers
XM is offering the XpressEZ for $39.99 after a $30 mail-in rebate. The XpressEZ features 10 favorites, a three line display, and the EasyTune rotary dial. The XpressEZ normally retails for $69.99.
Plus, get 3 months free when you activate between 11/23 and 12/31.
Fine Print: "You will receive the value of three (3) months free service to be applied over the first six (6) months of service. Promotional offer applies when you activate service on any eligible XM radio between 11/23/07 and 12/31/07 and maintain uninterrupted service for at least six (6) months."
XM has a rebate page (under the menu item "Special Offers") where rebates are available for various models. You can see which models and download a rebate form.
Existing Subscribers
Subscribers can also take advantage of the Audiovox XpressEZ for $5.99 and pay $6.99 per month for its programming service.
Fine Print: To qualify for this special offer, you must have an existing active account with XM Radio and less than 5 active radios on that account.
If you select the "Shop" menu item at the XM website then select "View Radios" from the "On the Go" submenu, you will see the Pioneer Inno listed at $199 after a $50 rebate. The Inno is portable, receives live XM programming, records up to 50 hours of XM programming, works as an MP3 player. The Inno retails for $249.00.
I received an email offer the Inno for even less: $174.99. I checked the link and it was still valid as of this writing.
The SIRIUS Deal
New Subscribers
You can pick up a free Stratus 4 Dock & Play Radio including the complete vehicle kit for the price of a $49.99 paid subscription card. This radio features an amber display, 10 presets, FM transmitter or stereo audio output to connect to vehicle radio.
Fine Print: SIRIUS states "Terms and conditions may apply" but the statement does not link to what terms those might be. A link for all of SIRIUS’ Terms and Conditions are listed at the bottom of each of their web pages.
The Reconditioned Route
Also, check the "Clearance" menu item at the SIRIUS website for deals on other reconditioned radios. SIRIUS offers a decent discount on these.
The Power of Comparison Shopping
If you are not convinced by any of the deals on radios from the XM or SIRIUS websites, you can always search a shopping comparison service. About.com recommends Pricegrabber. Below are pre-configured searches for the above products at that service. It never hurts to compare before you buy.
