The Bottom Line

WildVoice Studio is one of the better pieces of free software I've seen in some time. Its interface is very simple yet the capabilities of the program are quite varied. This software has so many separate useful features, I've decided to use it during my own radio show just for the sound effects tool.

  • WYSIWYG Interface is easy to understand and intuitive
  • Flexible enough to use for complicated needs

  • Free software that's actually worth downloading.

Guide Review - WildVoice Studio for Recording Podcasts

If you create Podcasts or plan to, I'd like to recommend you have a look at WildVoice Studio. This software is so well put together it might also be of use to those who create programs for Internet radio stations and more.

Simple Interface

The interface is intuitive and easy to learn. It's divided into four main areas: Show Builder, Mixer, Background Tracks, and Sound FX. The user can simply plug a microphone into his/her computer and begin recording voice content. If desired, add background music, like show opens, transitions, etc. using the Background Tracks tool.

Or, at any time drop a sound effect in by clicking on the Sound FX tool which is capable of holding up to 300 separate audio files in WAV, MP3, MP2, MP1, OGG or AIFF formats. As a bonus, WildVoice Studio comes with a nice collection of free sound effects to get you started.

The Mixer tool lets the user mix audio by adjusting a Master recording volume or the additional music and sounds you may choose to add while recording.

Create and Publish

The Show Builder tool allows the user to record any length audio clips which are later automatically combined together in the order they are layed out to create the final show mix. This permits the user to create a long show in small segments, especially useful to beginners or those who are not comfortable recording for long periods of time.

Once finished, WildVoice Studio will combine your Podcast or show, give you an opportunity to tag the file (input information like show title, host, etc.), and upload it to WildVoice's website where your Podcast will reside for others to hear. You can also choose to create your show to and MP3 file for posting on your own or possibly emailing to another.

WildVoice Studio has other options which can help make your recordings sound professional without you having to deal with a steep learning curve.
