Enrique Santos, co-host of the morning show "El Vacilon de la Manana" on Miami's WXDJ-FM ("El Zol 95"), has decided to run for the office of Mayor of the City of Miami.

Santos, along with sidekick Joe Ferrero are the two high-profile personalities who have done such notable stunts as prank calls to Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Their radio show does well among South Florida listeners, ages 18-34.

By mutual agreement with Spanish Broadcasting System, WXDJ-FM's parent company, and to comply with F.C.C rules and regulations, Santos has elected to temporarily withdraw from the El Vacilon show in order to pursue his mayoral candidacy.

Regardless of the outcome, Santos will rejoin the morning show immediately following the election.

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. is the largest Hispanic-controlled radio broadcasting company in the United States. It owns a growing list of radio properties in the top Hispanic markets of New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco and Puerto Rico.
