Don Imus didn’t say anything illegal. He didn’t curse. He used no profanity. He said nothing obscene. It was never an F.C.C. issue (although some thought they could make it one).

Imus said plenty of equally or more offensive things than "nappy-headed hos" during the course of his career.

Was it in bad taste? Politically incorrect? Racially charged? You can make an argument for all that.

But, in the end, it was an issue of offensive speech - which is protected by our First Amendment. Contrary to what some may think, in the United States of America, you do NOT have a right to NOT be offended.

So, why was Imus fired by CBS and his syndicated program dumped across the country on 61 affiliates?

Al Sharpton and YouTube.

Notable 2007 Event
Phil Hendrie Returning to Radio with Evening Show
One of Radio's most creative personalities came back to the business after a short sojourn into acting. Hendrie announced he was leaving the business in April, 2006. At the time his show was syndicated to over 100 radio stations.

Phil Hendrie got his start in radio as a DJ and began his career in talk radio in 1990. The first Phil Hendrie Show was a comedy talk radio program that became renowned for its unique and controversial guests, who were actually fictional characters created and voiced by Hendrie himself.

His return program, "The Phil Hendrie Show", premiered on June 25 on Talk Radio Network-FM and airs weeknights live from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. PST.
