XM Satellite Radio and SIRIUS Satellite Radio entered into an agreement to merge into one company. XM Satellite Radio unveiled its "XM Customer Promise" to XM's existing and future subscribers and reiterated a commitment to programming before and after the merger. Following the merger, XM said existing radios would be able to receive a mix of programming from both XM and SIRIUS services.

It’s important Satellite Radio survive and flourish and although I fear a merger will bump up prices, at this time it would be better to have one strong, profit-generating company than two weak ones. Eventually, when XM is strong enough - someone will come along and challenge it to make the field competitive again.
