April 14 - WORD-FM in Pittsburgh fired radio personality, Marty Minto, after questioning an on-air the beliefs of the Catholic Church and whether or not Pope John Paul II would go to heaven.

April 17 – Satellite Radio was used for the first time in an “Amber Alert” way. Police in New York state used XM’s “Open Road” channel to help get leads for a hit-and-run driver who killed a teenager.

April 20 - Shawn Brooks, a former salesman for the Philadelphia Eagles Radio Network won a $614,000 discrimination judgment. He had been given a booklet which suggested when selling to white people, blacks should not wear Afro haircuts or Africa-style clothing.

April 29 - Jeremy Powell, also known as "Fat Kid" from 99X, Atlanta, was arrested after approaching a homeowner posing as a church representative looking to buy pornography so he could "clean up the neighborhood", according to the Rome News Tribune.
