Corey: When you decided to "come out", at first, you communicated to the media - including myself - through a liaison. Why?

Dave: First off, it all happened so QUICK that I didn't know what to do or how to react properly. Being 57 now with a Wife, 4 kids and 2 Grandkids.... I had to consider other people and other things than just my past. I have had a lifelong friend that I basically grew up with that knew about me being Dave Rabbit and when I told him I wanted to be cautious, he volunteered to be my laison [sic] until a time came when I felt like it was okay to let people know WHO I really was, if that is the decision I make.

I have known numerous DJ's throughout the years, but other than my high school DJ hero Jimmy Rabbit, whose real name I do know, I don't think many CARE for the public knowing about the REAL THEM. So for the time being... I am just "Dave Rabbit".

Corey: Since your story was published, you've gotten quite a bit of attention from Hollywood. Can you tell me more about that?

Dave: Yes, thanks to YOU! It seems, as I had already gathered, that YOU are quite the celebrity yourself when it comes to Radio Personalities, etc., and EVERYONE seems to read your by line. Because I had developed a kinship with you and through your generousity and kindness, a few Hollywood people read your article about me and wanted you to forward their e-mail on to me.

In addition to David Zeiger of the "Sir, No Sir" Documentary that seems to be a huge contender for Emmy, Golden Globe and Oscar nods in the Documentary division, I have been approached by two others. The leading contender in this quest is Chris Ragazzo. Chris has a partnership with Chance Films. It is headed by his good friend and award-winning filmmaker, Leslie Neale. Leslie is married to John Densmore of the band, "The Doors" and also co-founder of Chance Films.

Although, at this stage, we are simply kicking some ideas around, which I am not at liberty to discuss, it WILL involve me going back to Vietnam and following the path that led me to Saigon. Here is their site for Chance Films and some of the projects they have done.

Corey: How are you dealing with all this attention?

Dave: Well, a month ago I was extremely overwhelmed.... but now I have kinda gotten in the groove again that I had some 35 years ago. Of course, my memory sucks a bit, but more and more I get flashes of things that spurs on more memories and more details and that is lots of fun to relive.

Corey: What's in the future for Dave Rabbit? Another show maybe?

Dave:Well, I just finished the final version of my Music Bio Video DVD "Dave Rabbit's Vietnam - The Road To Radio First Termer", which you now have an advanced copy of. I did it as something to be included in the "Sir, No Sir" SPECIAL FEATURES for David Zeiger, who has become a good friend and advisor.

Somewhere down the road....I might release it commercially after "Sir, No Sir" does it's run and DVD sales. Of course, technology permitting, it might just end up on the internet and start a life of it's own too as did Radio First Termer. Who knows.

I am working on a 35th Anniversary Radio First Termer show as I type. It will duplicate in concept the original shows, have lots of CLASSIC CLIPS, ORIGINAL MATERIAL, and ROCK & ROLL. It will be done basically as a FLASH BACK show keeping that 1971 edge and era burned in my memory. I have also actually toyed with flying to Saigon (sorry... will never feel comfortable calling it Ho Chi Minh City) and actually taping the show there LIVE. Of course, it would be a VIDEO of the show being done, but have all of the stuff too. Just something I have kicked around that might be fun to do.

I have also been approached about going on Howard Stern's show, which might be fun to do. One SHOCK JOCK to ANOTHER. Another pitch to me has been to do a once a week show for XM Radio "XM Radio First Termer". But, like my first grade teacher use to say to me, "Suggestions and Ideas are just like......" wait, no..... that was someone I met on R & R in Bangkok.
