Thank you. I’ll mark you down for being just a little mentally disturbed. Maybe it’s the business that made you this way or maybe you make the business embarrassingly weird. I can’t say for sure but I appreciate you participating in this informal survey. Now, back to our regularly scheduled opinion piece.
Welcome to the Radio Rubber Room
Radio is known to be a sanctuary for crazy people. Not everyone is batty – but from a personal observation over many years on the radio myself, I can tell you it is chock full of nuts.
The latest proof comes from Orlando, Florida where the sheriff’s office reports 43-year-old Shannon Burke - who up until this incident did The Shannon Burke Show on Real Radio 104.1 (he was fired Monday) – argued with his wife over the care of the dog.
WDBO.com reports: “Burke grabbed his wife's dog and threatened to harm it. Deputies say Burke shot the dog in the leg with a .40 caliber handgun, and the bullet passed through the pet before striking his wife in the head.”
Myfoxorlando.com reports it this way: “According to police documents, Burke returned to his Altamonte Springs home to find that his wife's dog was loose. Angry, he picked up the dog while holding a .40 caliber gun. While waving the gun at the dog, the weapon discharged, with the bullet entering the dog's leg and then grazing his wife's head. The bullet then bounced around the room…”
The wife, Catherine, went to a hospital; the dog went to a veterinarian clinic. They’ll both survive.
