Then, developers and 3rd-party interests stepped in and began the process of hiding the ugly stuff and making slick interfaces so more and more folks could point-n-click their way through creating a Podcast.
Well, I'm here to tell you it's come full circle and now all you have to do is email an MP3 (and/or graphic or other file) to posterous.com and they will start a podcast-enabled blog for you instantly and reply with the new address.
Posterous.com promises no setup, no signup, and it's free.
According to Garry Tan, cofounder, "We're a YCombinator-funded company trying to bring online publishing to everyone who knows how to use email. We launched on TechCrunch 3 weeks ago and we're growing incredibly fast."
The Process Behind the Curtain
According to the posterous.com blog:
"All you have to do is email us an audio file attachment like an MP3. We'll automatically add your MP3 file to your posterous, and in addition to the flash player in the post, we'll make sure that the file is added to your RSS feed in a way that iTunes and other podcast players can read it."
Once that is done, anyone can subscribe to your Podcast by going to iTunes or interested parties can subscribe to your Podcast feed.
