I recently received a note from Srini Kumar, the creator and main proponent behind it. Well, actually it was a short note with a longer MP3 attachment which Srini had recorded on-the-fly after visiting Radio.about.com.
"You can create landing pages instantly and type rich text beneath it," said Srini's message. "It's a phenomenal tool to turn anything into a podcast like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr...all that stuff."
Looks Analog But it's Digital
It's pretty basic. After you download and install TinyVox Pro, when the app opens you're looking at a visual metaphor of a hand-held voice recorder including one of those tiny cassettes. It's cute - even more so because you don't have to ever worry about this "tape" jamming, stretching, or twisting on you like the original ones.
Press "RECORD" and speak. Then, when you're done you can playback and preview what you just recorded while viewing the audio's length, creation date, and file size.
Add a title and message (if you wish) and then select the social networking destinations you want to upload it to like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.
Press "SHARE!" and your audio is on it's way to spend the rest of its life as one of your recent posts. You can also send the audio as an attachment to an email.
Once you have shared your audio, you can save it in the "Tapes" area. Conversely, if you want to just save audio that you've just created and not send it anywhere, you can choose that option as well.
Not Just for Podcasting
Of course, just because TinyVox Pro has podcasting applications that doesn't mean it's limited to just that. TinyVox Pro can be used as a simple voice recorder for your own notes, recording lectures, or whatever sound capture needs you have.
TinyVox Pro sells for $9.99 and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 3.1 or later. The Android version requires 2.1 and up and is only $4.99.
A video demo at tinyvox.com sums up this app: "The days of typing are over my friends. It's time to start taping and put a voice to that message."
Compare for Your Needs
There are other sound recorders available for iPhone and Android but TinyVox Pro is set up to allow you to easily share your audio and convenience is often worth the price you pay.
But, before you commit, you might want to check out "Recorder for iPhone", iTalk Premium ($1.99), SpeakEasy (1.99), and iPhone Recorder ($14.95)
