Zidar has created a free application called “Screamer Radio” which is tiny in stature and big on features.
Listening
As a basic player, Screamer Radio is a great choice for listening to Internet Radio streams from around the world. Zidar has included a database of stations, categorized by continent and genre – and it’s quite an extensive listing including terrestrial stations that stream as well as Internet-only stations.
Of course, realizing his own taste may not be yours, you can manually include any stream’s URL as well as create a favorites list and presets.
Recording
But, past the basics, Screamer Radio is delightfully surprising with the ability to record streams or playback those recordings back. Through the preferences panel you can also choose the bitrate of your mp3 recordings.

Then there are the geeky things like choosing how much stereo separation you want on your stream and “stereo reverse”, plus a convenient “auto volume” selection which jacks up the sound with a bit of compression.
Screamer Radio’s display is succinct but useful. Depending on how much the streaming source encodes, It will shows the station, url, the title playing, artist, and bitrate stream.
