Personal: John Laws was born in Wau, New Guinea, on August 8, 1935. He attended Mosman Preparatory School and Knox Grammar School in Sydney.

Radio: John Laws is famous for doing the 9 a.m. - Noon program on Sydney's 2UE, Brisbane's 4BC, and about 70 other networked stations around Australia. He began that job in 1956 and retired in November, 2007

He began his career at 3BO, Bendigo, in 1953 at age 18.

Laws joined 2UE in 1957 after working at several smaller county radio stations. He's worked there 4 different times.

In 1959 he moved over to 2SM and worked for a short time before broadcasting a syndicated show across Australia from 2K0, Newcastle.

In 1962 he joined 2GB in Sydney then jumped back to 2UE in 1964.

In 1969 he went to 2UW where he worked for 10 years.

In 1979 he went back to 2UE for five years, then back to 2GB and finally back to 2UE again in 1988.

Claim to Fame: Australia's "King of Radio"

Awards: Laws has been honored with more awards of excellence than any other Australian broadcasts including a special award from the Federation of Australian Radio Broadcasters and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Producers and Directors Guild of Australia.
