Personal: Jimmy Mack, a famed Scottish radio host, was born in 1934 died on July 3, 2004 at age 70 of cancer.

Radio: Mack began his radio career on a pirate radio station in 1965.

He later deejayed on BBC Radio Scotland, Radio 1, Radio 2 and Radio 4.

In 1970 he joined Radio Medway in Kent, England.

In 1979 he moved to BBC Radio Scotland to do the morning program and from there moved on to Clyde 2 in 1990.

Claim to Fame: Jimmy Mack was one of the high profile presenters who gained fame at the same time the Beatles burst onto the scene.

Awards: Mack was awarded the MBE in 1996. (MBE stands for Member of the British Empire Award)
