The Lone Ranger Drunk Driving Death

Myth: Following the drunk-driving death of the actor who played the Lone Ranger on radio, no dialogue was spoken by the new replacement for several episodes to mask the scandal of his death and to hide the change in voice from children listeners.

Truth: Although it’s true one of the actors who played the Lone Ranger did die in an auto accident, drinking was not involved. And although the replacement actor spoke little in the next few episodes, it was to make a gradual transition to the new actor’s voice.
