The Clear Channel Banned Song List

Radio Myths

Myth: After 9/11 Clear Channel created a list of songs not to be played on it’s U.S. radio stations for fear of offending listeners.

Truth: The list was created by one Program Director at one station and distributed simply as an advisory to other Program Directors of songs which might contain titles or lyrics which could be construed as offensive considering what had just transpired. No songs were banned and it was not a corporate memo.
