Who Picks the Music?

Myth: DJs pick their own music and DJs fulfill requests.

Truth: At one time this was true. Today, you would be hard-pressed to find a commercial station that doesn’t use music software to pick the day’s music and to decide how often it will play. As far as requests go, there is a slim-to-none chance your request will be played - unless it is during a specific "request"-type show. For what it's worth: some personalities and hosts on non-commercial radio still pick their own music.
