Guglielmo Marconi, the father of Radio, made some predictions about wireless technology which were close to absurd. Among other things, Marconi thought that one day wireless would be able to provide lighting, heating, and the transmission of motor power.
According to earlyradiohistory.us, Technical World Magazine, in the October, 1912 issue printed an article entitled, "Marconi's Plans For The World" which said, in part:
"Each of these systems is based on the same principle as wireless telegraphy, only the transmitting and receiving instruments are different and the vibrations of the etheric waves have a different nature, intensity and length."
Marconi even thought someday wireless could fertilize the soil!
(Editor's Note: maybe it wasn't so crazy after all. On August 21, 2008, Intel demonstrated a wireless electric power system which according to AFP "...analysts say could revolutionize modern life by freeing devices from transformers and wall outlets.")
