Secondly, knowing how to use todays digital audio editing software provides you with a skill very sought after by Radio stations. Production Directors generally spend a good portion of their day either editing sweepers, spots, music and other sound elements elements or supervising others who do. Great sound editing requires 3 things: tools, skills and art. This course will talk about all three and help you understand how they intertwine.
You may be a professional videographer who has to deal with audio for final mixes, or you may have an interest in home movies, or you just may be curious.
Tools
When I speak of tools, Im referring to software. Years ago, recording tape, tape decks, editing blades and editing tape were the tools of choice. Not so anymore.
The preferred way to edit sound is digitally and the most important tool you need is good software. Needless to say, there are many sound editors to choose from. In our first actual lesson, we'll download a free piece of software called Audacity to use for the rest of this course.
