Times are tough for a lot of folks. Maybe your hours have been cut or you've lost a job. You’re stretching dollars, sticking to budgets, and trying to make the most out of whatever you have.

Radio stations can help. Stations depend on listeners and are especially interested in more page views to their station websites. For this reason, stations are always looking for ways to offer listeners more reasons to listen longer and visit and click-through web pages.

The longer you listen, the better their ratings and the more ads they can sell. The more you click through at their website, the higher their page views and the more ads they can place on the web.

You're important – and radio station will offer you incentives to patronage their airwaves and their web pages.

So, how do you best take advantage of that?

Online

  1. Sign Up for Member Benefits – many radio stations have programs for listeners who sign up for membership. It’s always free and in return, the station stays in touch with special offers, discounts, freebies, downloads, and more. You favorite station may or may not have a program but that doesn’t mean you can’t look for other stations around town or out of town that do. As a matter of fact, you could sign up for dozens if you wanted.

As an example, see WLS-Chicago’s "Unfair WLS Insider Advantage" sign up page.

Or Los Angeles' KIIS-FM’s "KIISClub VIP" program.

  2. Double Deals – Many radio stations offers two-for-one deals. It goes by various names but the way it works is similar: pay for one, get another free. Sometimes it’s restaurant meals, sometimes it’s dry-cleaning, or any number of retail products and services. As an example, have a look at this "Double Dollar Deals" page for Little Rock Clear Channel radio stations (one of which I am employed by.)

  3. Free audio and video downloads are always being made by radio stations on their websites. You can really beef up your digital entertainment collection by taking advantage of all this free stuff.
