Remembering President Reagan For His Humor - A Classic Radio Gaffe

The Famous "We Begin Bombing" Audio

By Corey Deitz, About.com

With the passing of President Ronald Reagan on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at age 93, maybe it will put a smile on your face to remember him for his sense of humor.

Prior to his weekly radio address on August 11 1984, Reagan uttered what is now a famous but humorous gaffe when he did not think the microphone was on.

"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."

You can listen to it here.
