Mark Radcliffe
Personal: Born 1958 in Bolton, studied English, American studies and Classic Civilization at Manchester University.
Radio: Began with Piccadilly Radio in 1979 as an assistant producer where he produced drama and classical music programs.
In 1983 he joined Radio 1 in London.
In 1985 he went back to Piccadilly Radio where he became Head of Music and also did some deejaying.
In 1987 Radcliffe went back to the BBC and produced programs for both Radio 1 and Radio 2.
In 1990 he moved over to Radio 5 as an evening presenter.
In 1991 the program, "Out On Blue Six", began.
Beginning in 1993, Radcliffe presented 4 nights-a-week on Radio 1.
During 1996, Radcliffe and Marc "Lard" Riley substituted for Chris Evans on the Radio 1 Breakfast show and did the show between February and October, 1997.
Awards: Sony Award for Best Specialist Music Programme for "Out On Blue Six", April 1992
Claim to Fame: Radcliffe was the first DJ to enjoy a regular poetry slot on Radio 1.
Marc "Lard" Riley
Personal: Born in Manchester, England.
Riley left school to play in "The Fall". After 5 years, he formed "The Creepers" in which he performed until disbanding it in 1989.
Riley became a record rep. His dealings with the BBC eventually landed him employment as a producer. He later became an overnight presenter.
