For the sixth year in a row, Howard Stern is the most-searched talk radio personality with web users, generating 232 percent more online interest than Adam Corolla, who holds the number two spot this year.
Even though Stern topped this year's list, Sterns online interest has dipped 15 percent since his move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January.
Adam Carolla of Infinitys The Adam Carolla Show is the biggest gainer this year, moving to number two with web users. Lycos says, "Carollas search activity did not even register as a blip on the radar last year." Carolla replaced Stern in several markets beginning January of this year.
Don Imus of Imus in the Morning, who Lycos says "barely registered last year" moved into the number five position for 2006.
Some favorites from previous years dropped in 2006 including Bill OReilly. OReilly is 92 percent less popular than he was in 2005. Dr. Laura also dropped off this years list, dipping 81 percent, while Bob and Tom dropped 83 percent, but still managed to remain in the top 20. Michael Savage also dropped 74 percent, falling from number five last year.
Lycos says the most interesting trend this year is the large number of newcomers generating online interest. Of the top 20 talk radio personalities of 2006, six are making first-ever appearances, including Wendy Williams, Emma B, Jim Cramer]/b], Chris Evans, Sara Cox and Carolla.
