Boston Radio Host David Brudnoy Succumbs to Cancer

Dateline: 12/10/04

By Corey Deitz, About.com

Boston radio listeners have lost one of the city's most listened to respected talk show hosts, David Brudnoy.

Brudnoy died yesterday from a rare form of cancer called Merkel cell carcinoma which he had been fighting for a little over a year.

According to a statement from Massacusetts General Hospital: "Mr. Brudnoy died peacefully, surrounded by friends."

Brudnoy entertained listeners in Boston for over 25 years, spending much of that time at WBZ-AM.

In 1990, Brudnoy was fired from WBZ-AM and listener reaction was so overwhelmingly negative toward the station, it was forced to rehire him.

Prior to that, he worked at WHDH-AM and WRKO-AM, also in Boston.

Brudnoy was 64.
