One of the more interesting stories this week is the indictment of John A. "Junior" Gotti, son of John Gotti the former and deceased head of the New York Gambino family.

Junior Gotti was charged with various crimes including taking instructions from his father to organize a hit on New York talk show host, Curtis Sliwa, now heard on NewsTalk Radio 77WABC.

In 1992, Sliwa was shot in a cab but managed to escape the vehicle and survive the attack. Afterwards, he always maintained it was retribution from the mob for his outspoken remarks on the radio about John Gotti, Sr.

Gotti, already in prison on another conviction, will be arraigned on July 30 for conspiracy, kidnapping, and the attempted murder of Sliwa.

Meanwhile, Sliwa went into hiding after his morning radio show on Friday, now fearing retaliation from organized crime in response to this week's indictment.

Curtis Sliwa first came to national prominence in 1979 when he founded a an unarmed, volunteer group of citizens to combat crime called "The Guardian Angels".
