Before leaving the air on Friday, syndicated host, Rush Limbaugh, admitted to his audience that he was addicted to pain-killers. He told his audience they were initially prescribed legally to treat post-surgical pain for spinal surgery. Limbaugh said had been addicted to several drugs for five years.
Rather than opt for additional surgery, Limbaugh said he had chosen to continue using the drugs.
"I am addicted to prescription pain medication," said Limbaugh.
Limbaugh told his audience he was going to check himself into a treatment center for the next 30 days to break his addiction.
In reference to other celebrities and sports figures who enter rehabilitation and then tout their experience, Limbaugh said, "I'm no role model." He also said, "I'm not a victim. I'm not going to portray myself as a victim....I take full responsibility for this problem."
"I deeply appreciate the overwhelming support you have extended to me. It literally has sustained me....but now I want to ask for your prayers."
