A lot of small news items pile up in my inbox each week about Radio. Here's the latest:

R.A.I.N the "Radio And Internet Newsletter", is reporting that Clear Channel's radio stations in Orlando are actually making money with their internet radio station streams. Meanwhile, the October 20th deadline looms for all webcasters who play music and copyrighted content to pay up their royalty obligations or shut down.

MeasureCast, Inc., is reporting that Internet Radio listening fell 13% during the first week of September. "However," it says, "since Jan. 6, 2002, the total time spent listening to Web radio stations measured by MeasureCast is up 121 percent."

Would you believe there is a "VCR" for Radio? It's the RPR, Radio Program Recorder. The RPR website says, "It's portable and fully self-contained with an AM/FM radio, digital recorder, and FM transmitter. The FM transmitter provides a wireless audio link to your car's FM radio for playback of your recorded shows."

XM Satellite Radio is reporting their satellite radio service, "is now available in select 2003 Nissan vehicles that have begun arriving at dealerships across the country. XM-equipped Infiniti models and the new Nissan Murano crossover SUV will arrive at dealerships later this year." XM says it is moving toward reaching 200,000 subscribers by Sept. 30 and expects to have 350,000 subscribers by the end of the year.
