SIRIUS Satellite Radio says the company's broadcast operations were not affected by last week's historic blackout due to SIRIUS' advanced broadcast technology.

SIRIUS carried live coverage on the Company's talk and news streams, including live reports from the streets of New York City.

"When the blackout occurred, our back-up generators immediately responded and provided support to our broadcast and studio facilities," said Terry Smith, chief technology officer SIRIUS. "The SIRIUS subscriber experience was not interrupted at any point during the blackout; in fact, we have heard from many subscribers that SIRIUS was their only source of live information during the crisis."

"...We carried more than nine hours of live interviews from New York City's Times Square on SIRIUS OutQ. We also carried live coverage from our news partners including Fox News, CNN, CNBC, ABC, E! Entertainment, BBC and the Associated Press," said Jay Clark, executive vice president programming SIRIUS. "We provided additional broadcast support to a number of our partners and to WNYC (NPR Radio), which was without power at its downtown studio location."

SIRIUS features more than 100 streams of music and entertainment coast-to-coast including 60 music streams with no commercials, along with over 40 sports, news and entertainment streams. A monthly subscription is $12.95.
