Barry White, the R&B singer with a hit-making baritone voice, died Friday, July 4, 2003, according to his manager, Ned Shankman.

He passed away due to kidney failure brought on by years of high-blood pressure. He was 58-years-old.

Barry White - sometimes referred to as "The Walrus of Love" - first came to prominence with hits on Radio during the disco era of the 1970s. White won two Grammy Awards in 2000 for the song "Staying Power" - one for Best Male and one for Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.

Barry White's most notable hit songs on Radio include:

1973: "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby"
1973: "Love's Theme" for the Love Unlimited Orchestra (written by White)
