SIRIUS Unveils Here2Anywhere Portable Satellite Radio Tuner
Dateline: 06/14/03
Even though I was mildly anxious about hooking up a "satellite radio", there was no reason to be. This installation requires no technical knowledge whatsoever - which is always a plus for most of us! Using the adapter kit went smoothly. I chose to place the unit in a small cubby hole located underneath my dash.

(The picture to the right is not actually my car, but looks almost exactly like it. I placed my unit in the same area this photo suggests.)

Installation took five steps:

1. Decide where to put the unit
2. Attach the cradle from the adapter kit to that area
3. Plug in the wires:

A. power adapter from the lighter to the cradle,
B. cassette adapter wire to the cradle and finally
C. the antenna to the cradle
4. Run the antenna from the roof back to the cradle.
5. Call SIRIUS and activate the subscription.

The last step was the antenna. The instructions suggest placing the small antenna on a metal surface at least 12"x12" and at least 6" from a window. I chose to place it on the roof of my car and simply ran the wire, laterally, to the passenger door and then under the rubber moulding all the way to the unit.

When all this was done, I called SIRIUS' toll-free number and within moments, the operator sent a signal via satellite that activated my system.

Now, it's time to play. I'll let you know more about the SIRIUS experience in a follow-up article. All I need now is a reason to take a roadtrip!
