With war raging in Iraq, those in support and those protesting are trying their best to grab the media's attention. Recently, the Dixie Chicks were embroiled in controversy over negative comments made about President George W. Bush.

Only a few days ago, film-maker Michael Moore expressed his disdain for the president and his policies during his Oscar acceptance on the Academy Awards. Lenny Kravits just released to Radio an anti war song ("We Want Peace") as did former "Rage Against the Machine" vocalist, Zack De La Rocha ("March of Death").

Now, it looks like Radio and Radio users are fighting back in an effort to balance out the opinion. This past Monday evening, WPRO-AM personality, Steve Kass, emceed a pro-troops rally in Cranston, Rhode Island. About 300 people showed up to demonstrate their solidarity. About 5,000 came to downtown Bellevue, Washington this past Saturday in a huge expression of patriotism. The event was organized by 570 KVI Radio in Seattle.

In Philadelphia, syndicated Radio personality, Glenn Beck, has staged various "Rallies for America" across the country. The Associated Press reports "tens of thousands of people have attended the nearly 20 rallies so far". Beck's show is heard in more than 100 markets.

Clear Channel Radio, is providing its listeners across the United States with ongoing comprehensive news coverage of the war in Iraq. The centerpiece of Clear Channel Radio's war coverage is Aaron Katersky, a reporter with KTRH-AM in Houston who is currently embedded with the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 533, a front line unit that was one of the first called in when the war began.

Katersky is currently filing custom reports and Q&A's for 40 of Clear Channel Radio's news/talk stations, and is providing daily reports from the front line distributed to all Clear Channel Radio stations across the country. Clear Channel Radio in Little Rock, Arkansas is holding a 12-hour rally in downtown Little Rock on Friday, March 28th. All five of Clear Channel's radio stations will be broadcasting live throughout the day beginning at 6:00am including KDJE-FM "The Edge", KHKN-FM "Kickin' Country", KMJX-FM "Magic 105", Mix 94.9 and KSSN-FM.

Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is scheduled to speak at 11:00am and listeners are encouraged to support the soldiers by stopping by and donating to 'Operation USO Care Package' for the overseas soldiers.

Radio has always been an interactive medium that can quickly respond to news, events and in this case, expressions of patriotism and support. Let's all just hope the peace will come soon and the troops will quickly move from harm's way.
