Using A Third Party With or Without Using Your Own Or Someone Elses' Computer As A Server

  • Live365

Live 365 is the premiere provider of independent web-based streams, otherwise known as web Radio or webcasting. What Live365 does is act as your "transmitter". They have constructed the infrastructure that allows thousands of audio streams to use their computers. It's easy to begin broadcasting with them and it's easy for listeners to hear your broadcast. Live365 offers several options (Pricing subect to change):

The "Premium Package I100" for personal broadcasts, it's just $9.95/month and that includes a 7-day trial. New accounts start with 100 MB of space for mp3s and content. Your broadcast is "On Demand Audio", archived and available at any time for listeners. Basically, you decide your music, gather your MP3 files, upload them to your space, decide how they will play and then start your broadcast. You can add or delete files anytime you wish. You can also create playlists for different days, holidays, etc.

The "Premium Package P100" is $14.95/month. New accounts start with 100 MB. Additional space, have more options than above including better stats and the ability to do a live broadcast in addition to the "On Demand Audio" option. (To do a live broadcast, you will need your own or someone else's computer to act as a server to get your live signal over to Live365 for rebroadcast. See below)

Live365.com also offers several more upgrades for "Serious Personal Broadcasters" including more storage space and the ability for more listeners to listen at the same time in both "On Demand" and "Live/Relay" mode.

If you want to generate revenue, Live365.com offers the "Pro Broadcasting" options. As the website says, "Live365 builds a special "tuner" (or pop-up Player Window) with your organization's customized "look and feel." The Player Window launches directly from your website, so visitors never have to leave your website in order to listen to your broadcast."
