Record Streaming Audio With Silent Bob
Choose either the Free version or the Professional one
“Silent Bob Professional Version”

Silent Bob Pro is quite a bit more sophisticated than the freeware version, even though the interface doesn't look that much different. For starters, you get a VU meter to monitor the peaks from the input of your audio. Having spent my professional life in Radio, I feel lost without a VU meter. To me, it's essential to proper recording. But, wait: you not only get a VU meter but you can also choose from where you want to monitor the signal: your computer's “Stereo Mix”, “Mono Mix”, “Aux”, “Video”, “CD Audio”, “Line In”, “Microphone” or “Phone Line”.

You'll no doubt notice these input choices are one ones available on that pesky “Volume Control” applet we had to dig through the Start Menu to find earlier with the free version. Not with 'Ole Bob Pro: He even let's you press one little button to automatically bring "Volume Control" up instead of having to do that annoying mouse-dance from the Start button

With Silent Bob Professional, recording streaming audio (or any audio from your soundcard) is not much different than in the free version. But, it's what's underneath the hood that makes the Pro version a more refined software experience. When you select the “Option” button, you get a load of them:

  • A timer to start and stop recordings
  • An option to split the files upon hearing silence (good for recording tracks from vinyl or CD)
  • The ability to change skins
  • Choices of 16 or 8 bit files
  • 3 recording frequencies (11025hz, 22050hz and 44100)
  • Mono or Stereo modes
  • Automatic or manual gain control

Silent Bob Professional Version is a clean App with just enough choices to make an average person feel empowered. Even Jay would approve.
