Victoria Derbyshire
Personal: Born in Bury, England in 1968. Victoria went to Bury Grammar School before studying at the University of Liverpool, where she obtained a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature.
A postgraduate diploma in Radio and TV Journalism from Lancashire Polytechnic followed.
Victoria lives in west London, loves dogs and reading, and supports Bolton Wanderers.
Radio: Victoria was a radio reporter at BRMB (Birmingham) and BBC CWR (Coventry), before producing and presenting her own show - Victoria Derbyshire's Lunchtime Show - on CWR in 1994. She was then asked to go back home to Manchester to present BBC GMR's Breakfast Show in 1995.
Victoria joined Radio Five Live in 1998, and made her debut as a television presenter for BBC ONE's daytime show The Club in 1999. She also presents Late Night London and Central Weekend, both studio debate shows for ITV.
From 1998, Victoria Derbyshire co-presented, with Julian Worricker, BBC Radio Five Live's early morning programme Five Live Breakfast (Mondays to Fridays, 6.00-9.00am)
In October, 2003, it was announced that Victoria would move to the mid-morning show beginning Summer, 2004.
She is currently presenting 9 am - Noon on BBC Radio's Five Live.
Awards: In 1999, she won the Television and Radio Industries Club Award for a Radio Programme(BBC Radio Five Live's early morning programme Five Live Breakfast) and a Sony Bronze Broadcaster of The Year Award in 2001.
