Paul Harvey

Born: Born September 4, 1918 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Harvey died in Phoenix, Arizona on February 28, 2009. He was 90.

Beginnings: Began radio career in 1933 at KVOO-AM Tulsa. He sometimes played guitar to entertain listeners during interludes.

Radio: In 1936, Harvey went to KFBI, Abilene, Kansas, where he worked as the station Manager.

From there, he moved in 1939 on to KXOK, St. Louis, where he was a newsman and later, in 1944 he worked as an ABC news analyst in Chicago.

In 1951, Paul Harvey was hired by ABC news in Chicago to be a commentator, the position he has held ever since.

It's reported Harvey earned $10 million dollars-a-year.

Syndication Since 1951 his "News and Comment" was heard on ABC Radio Networks on over 1200 stations and 400 armed forces network stations. Harvey was also heard on "The Rest of The Story", a feature broadcast Monday thru Saturday.
