Personal: Matthews has completed the AFTRS Radio Programmers Course and also holds an associated diploma in sales and marketing. He is now a mentor in the AFTRS PD Course.

Radio Timeline:

2003 - Appointed program director of both Sea FM and 2GO FM on the Central Coast and Assistant Group Program Director of RG Capitals Mix Stream stations

2001-2003 - Program Director, NSW, Central Coast

2001 - Transferred to the Central Coast to program Sea FM

2000 - Transferred to the Gold Coast to be program Director of GOLD FM. After about 3 months I switched to be Program Director of Sea FM Gold Coast

1998 - Went to Northern Tasmania after being poached to look after their 5 northern Tasmanian stations including 7LA, 7BU, 7AD, 7SD and the then named The Ultimate. I also co-hosted breakfast with Dani Torresan for about 18 months across the AM network. This network was purchased by RG Capital in 1999

1997 - Went back to Hobart and HOFM as assistant program director and announcer, then became program director after about 3 months

1996 - I98FM in Wollongong as assistant program director/Music Director and hosted mornings

1995 -2AY FM (now STAR FM) as morning announcer and music director. “This was the station where I got the taste for programming not just on air,” says Matthews

1988 -Headed to 7HO (now HOFM) as mid dawn and night announcer

1987 - Started at 2XL in Cooma as night announcer

Awards: Jason Matthews won Commercial Radio Australia awards in 2001 and 2002 for Program Director of the Year.
