Personal: Born in Virginia, Ed Schultz was "lured" to Moorhead State in Moorhead, Minnesota for a college football scholarship.

Schultz was an All-American quarterback, play some pro ball and then moved to Fargo, North Dakota.

He is married to Wendy, also his producer and credited with influencing Ed's left-of-center views.

TV/Radio: Schultz began as a sportscaster and worked for 15 years as a TV play-by-play announcer and color commentator.

In 1992, he launched a regional talk show called "News and Views" which was syndicated to other regional markets because of its success.

Ed Schultz spent sixteen years on local radio in his hometown of Fargo, N.D., where he generated blockbuster ratings and a 20-share for local affiliate, KFGO.

Schultz's show is rapidly adding affiliates across the country. Democracy Radio and Jones Radio Networks launched The Ed Schultz Show in January 2004 on 2 stations. One year later, there were 74 including 6 of the top 10 markets.

Claim to Fame: Democracy Radio says Ed Schultz is "the most widely carried liberal on radio". He's been called "an overnight sensation" by the Washington Post.

Awards: "The Marconi" (News/Talk/Sports Station of the Year), "The Peabody," and two "Eric Sevareid" Awards (First place Talk/Large Market).
