Colin Murray - A Profile of Radio Personality Colin Murray
Profiles of Popular and Extraordinary Radio Personalities
Personal:
Belfast born and bred, he began his working career as a gravedigger at the age of sixteen, but after three weeks he soon realised he needed a rethink.
His love of music and his ability to enthuse and pass comment - good or bad - on any tune that may pass his ear, turned him to journalism.
By his eighteenth birthday he was fed up with being a news reporter.
He preferred compiling his own columns for the Ulster News Letter. So, he left Northern Ireland for a period of six months to work as a journalist in Toronto, Canada.
On his return, he worked on various magazines and then set up his own publication, BLANK.
Filled with the same irreverence, quality and maverick tendencies as Colin himself, it became a big seller and by issue 3, it was outselling almost every national music magazine on the shelves in the Province.
As a freelance Mirror Group columnist, he continues to write about quality music in the tabloids.
Radio:
Colin Murray presents his show on Radio 1 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8.00-10.00pm.
The show, dedicated to playing the best new music to a nationwide audience, is the place to hear new bands and artists across a range of styles and genres.
Colin previously presented The Session in Northern Ireland with Donna Legge for Radio 1.
