1. Program Directors get lots of manila-colored mailers and envelopes all the time. Get attention by sending your letter in one of the Post Office's Flat Rate 2-3 day delivery mailers. It's not express mail, but it looks like it and it certainly looks more important than regular mail. The cost is under $4.00 dollars.

2. Follow up with a phone call. If you get voicemail, leave a message and follow up again.

3. If you can't get the Program Director on the phone, visit the Radio station during business hours and ask to see him.

4. Send letters to several Radio stations, even ones with programming formats you don't especially enjoy. The idea is to get experience, not to enhance your musical interests.

5. Don't be discouraged and remember: persistence pays off. Keep at it because if nothing else, you'll wear 'em down and someone will give you a break just to end your calls!
