Definition: High Definition Radio is an incorrect way of referring to HD Radio technology which transmits digital audio and data alongside existing AM and FM analog signals. Ibiquity, the developer of this technology, makes no mention on its website of "high definition" when referring to HD Radio. Yet, many reputable sources (I've done it myself) inadvertantly use "high definition" in conjunction with HD Radio.
Ibiquity claims the technology makes "...your AM sound like FM and FM sounds like CDs."
Ibiquity also says it offers "FM Multicasting - the ability to broadcast multiple program streams over a single FM frequency", "Static-free, crystal-clear reception", and "A variety of 'data services' including text-based information..."
