Internet Radio Webcaster SuperOldies.com Goes Live

Will Play All The Hits from 1955 Through 1969

As for the years 1955 thru 1969, it is my opinion that these were "true" oldies years. I consider the '70s to be "classic rock" and feel that lovers of doo-wop or rockabilly would not enjoy hearing '70s material. I'm betting that in 10 years time they'll be considering oldies stations the 70s & 80s! (egad!). I'm trying to have material appeal to everyone as much as possible, although there will always be complaints of one particular style not being played enough. I know already doo-wop fans are not going to "dig" the late '60s garage rock or soft psych, and vice versa. Overall, I hope those who are stuck on one particular style will learn, open-mindedly to appreciate the other styles that were in this time frame.

Radio Guide: Why will SuperOldies be different than other similar streams?

Shawn: Most oldies shows on the net are either pay per listen, not live, or shows pieced together for download. Lots of personal-opinion blab too...this will have minimal, and be facts about the hits & artists when there is chat. In the near future I'll have vintage commercials and Interviews with those who made the hits. I don't even hear the network oldies shows doing this. We'll have a few request shows per week at scheduled times.

Radio Guide: Tell me something important I haven't asked.

Shawn: The repeat rate of most stations is brutal. You can hear the same songs within the day, or definitely a few days. With close to 10,000 songs on a no repeat rotation (unless on the request shows), you won't hear the same song for quite some time. This is the "most voted complaint" on the polls currently on the main page. Also the fact that the songs have been restored...I hear a lot of poor quality recordings on some oldies shows.
