How To Record Streaming Audio From Internet Radio Stations and Sources #2

By Corey Deitz, About.com

This is an alternative method of recording streaming audio from the Internet
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 20-30 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Download a free program called "Silent Bob"
  2. Place it in a directory of your choosing and create a desktop icon for it for easy access.
  3. Open Volume controls applet by choosing: Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control
  4. Under "Options" on Volume control, select properties. Then select "Recording" and press OK
  5. Select "Stereo Mix" from the next screen.
  6. Start "Silent Bob" and choose your preferences under "Options".
  7. Stream your audio and run a test. Chances are, you will have to lower your volume on the Volume Control under "Stereo Mix" or "Master". "Silent Bob" is very sensitive.
  8. Playback your test .wav in the player of your choosing and adjust recording volume as needed.

Tips:

  1. It takes a little tweaking to get the right level so it doesn't distort.
