Public Radio KQED Adds Quicktime Streaming Option

KQED.org, the most trafficked station site in public broadcasting, has launched a new format for its live audio stream of KQED Public Radio. In addition to RealAudio and Windows Media formats, the stream is now offered in QuickTime.

The QuickTime stream is offered in the MPEG-4 AAC format, which results in excellent sound quality for both modem and broadband users. The KQED Public Radio live audio stream can be accessed via the "Listen Live" button on the KQED home page.

KQED Public Radio is the most-listened-to public radio station in the country, reaching more than 742,000 listeners each week over the air throughout Northern California, and thousands more online from around the world. The KQED Public Radio stream is one of the most popular station streams in public broadcasting, receiving more than 250,000 hits each month. Hits are defined as the total number of times that users connect to the stream.
